A picture is worth a thousand words and having 10,000 Instagram followers is apparently worth more than $150. At the recently opened 1888 Hotel in Sydney, Australia guests can stay one night for free if they contact the media department to show their social media mettle and follow the hotel on Instagram.
Everything about the 1888,is designed with photo sharing in mind. The architecture, interior decorating and furnishings were all conceived as part of a $30 million renovation to satisfy the itinerant Instagrammers of the world.
The 90 rooms have prints of Instagrammed photos on the walls and there's even a place to take selfies when you check in. Rooms range in price from $150 per night up to about $400 for the penthouse suite. But don't forget, if you're popular enough you can stay for free.
Talk about marketing.
